Opening Day Kids' Fishing Derby
Join us for our annual Day Kids' Fishing Derby! This exciting community event is all about fun, friendship, and fishing as we celebrate our love for the great outdoors. The 2026 Annual Opening Day Kids' Fishing Derby will be April 25 2026. It runs from first light until 10:00am. Kids will need to bring their own rod and tackle and such. Prizes will be given for the biggest fish every hour, as well as the grand prize for the biggest fish of the day: a bicycle!
The pond was dug by the local loggers and road builders in the 1960s to provide a safe place for kids to fish, and will be stocked with roughly 500 12”-16” Rainbow Trout. Bring the kids and come on down to Smallwood Park in Eatonville, and also enjoy a free cup of cocoa and some pancakes!
